Getafe Stun Real Madrid with Satriano Wonder-Strike at Bernabéu

Real Madrid suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Getafe CF in LaLiga as Martín Satriano’s stunning first-half volley sealed a famous win at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday.

Real Madrid lost further ground in the LaLiga title race after Satriano produced a moment of brilliance in the 39th minute. The forward latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the area and unleashed a first-time volley into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois helpless.

Los Blancos, who were once again without star forward Kylian Mbappé due to a left knee sprain, started brightly. Vinícius Júnior came close early on, while Arda Güler tested Getafe goalkeeper David Soria with a powerful drive.

However, Getafe defended resolutely and capitalized on their opportunity before halftime. Despite dominating possession in the second half, Madrid failed to break down Getafe’s disciplined backline.

Coach Álvaro Arbeloa introduced Rodrygo, Dean Huijsen, and Dani Carvajal in a triple substitution to spark a comeback, but the hosts lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.

Antonio Rüdiger and Rodrygo both had late chances, yet Soria remained solid between the posts. Substitute Franco Mastantuono nearly equalized but was later sent off in stoppage time for dissent. Getafe’s Adrián Liso also received a red card after kicking the ball away in frustration.

The defeat leaves Real Madrid trailing league leaders FC Barcelona by four points, while Getafe climb to 11th in the table, now eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Speaking after the match, Getafe defender Kiko Femenía praised his side’s resilience, saying the team executed their defensive plan perfectly and took their chance when it mattered most.
