Liverpool 0-1 Arsenal: Havertz Ends Arteta's Anfield Hoodoo

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal as Arsenal defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, securing their first Premier League victory at the stadium since 2012 and moving to the top of the table.

Arsenal secured a historic 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, ending a 14-year wait for a Premier League win at the famous stadium and moving to the top of the table.

Kai Havertz was the hero for the Gunners, scoring the only goal of the match in the 16th minute. The German forward converted Declan Rice's precise cross to give Arsenal an early lead that they successfully defended until the final whistle.

The victory marked Arsenal's first Premier League win at Anfield since 2012 and gave Mikel Arteta a long-awaited breakthrough at one of the most difficult away grounds in English football.

Havertz Makes History for Arsenal

Havertz's decisive goal was also a personal milestone. It was his 46th Premier League goal, taking him past Ilkay Gundogan to become the highest-scoring German player in the competition's history.

Arsenal started the match with confidence and made the most of an early opportunity. After winning possession following a loose pass from Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, the visitors moved the ball quickly before Rice delivered a dangerous cross for Havertz to finish from close range.

Despite taking an early lead, Arsenal were forced to withstand significant pressure from Liverpool throughout the first half.

Liverpool Unable to Find an Equaliser

Liverpool created several promising opportunities but failed to convert their pressure into a goal.

Florian Wirtz struck the crossbar with a free-kick, while Alexis Mac Allister missed a major opportunity when he headed over from close range. Alexander Isak also came close as Liverpool continued to search for an equaliser.

However, Arsenal remained disciplined defensively, with goalkeeper David Raya and the Gunners' backline successfully protecting their narrow advantage.

Liverpool pushed forward in the final stages of the match but were unable to seriously test Raya. Despite registering 17 shots, the home side failed to record a single shot on target.

Arsenal End Long Anfield Wait

Before this match, Arsenal had failed to win in their previous 13 Premier League visits to Anfield, with their last league victory at the stadium coming in September 2012.

The win ends one of Mikel Arteta's longest-running challenges as Arsenal manager and gives his team a major boost in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal now sit three points clear at the top of the Premier League, while Liverpool remain fifth and are nine points behind the league leaders.

The result could prove to be an important moment in Arsenal's season as they continue their push for the Premier League title.
