NPL 2025: Biratnagar Kings won the 8th match against Kathmandu Gorkhas by 5 wickets
Biratnagar Kings defeated Kathmandu Gorkhas by 5 wickets at TU Cricket Ground. Bowling first, they restricted Gorkhas to 134/6, then chased it easily in 17.1 overs, with George Munsey and Sandeep Lamichhane leading the batting.
लागला लागला: Biratnagar Kings played a awesome game in Match 8 of the Nepal Premier League, beating Kathmandu Gorkhas by 5 wickets at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Biratnagar Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Their bowlers did a great job and stopped Kathmandu Gorkhas at 134/6 in 20 overs. In reply, Biratnagar Kings chased the target comfortably, scoring 135/5 in just 17.1 overs.
Ben Charlesworth tried to steady the innings with 32 runs from 33 balls, hitting 1 four and 2 sixes. Captain Gerhard Erasmus made only 10. Santosh Yadav played a useful knock of 26 off 24 balls with one six.
The best batting came from Mohammad Aadil Alam, who smashed 48 not out from 25 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. He lifted the total in the final overs. John Simpson supported him with 7* runs. Kathmandu finished on 134/6, which was below par.
Biratnagar Kings bowled well. Marchant de Lange led the attack with 2 wickets for 17 runs. Shubham Ranjane, Surya Tamang, and Sandeep Lamichhane picked up one wicket each, while others kept the pressure tight.
In the chase, Biratnagar Kings started aggressively. Lokesh Bam hit 14 from 10 balls before getting out. After that, George Munsey played aggressively, hitting 36 runs from 16 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. His quick runs gave the Kings a strong start.
Martin Guptill added 25 from 19 balls, and Basir Ahamad scored 19 from 17 balls. Later, Naren Bhatta made 24 from 30 deliveries, helping the Kings get closer to the target.
In the end, captain Sandeep Lamichhane 9 from 3 balls* and Shubham Ranjane 6* finished the chase comfortably. Biratnagar Kings reached 135/5 in 17.1 overs, winning the match easily.
Kathmandu Gorkhas could not defend their small total, and Biratnagar Kings showed great batting depth and control. This win showed that the Kings are one of the strong teams in this year’s NPL.
