Gold Prices in Nepal Reaches Rs 300,000 Milestone Among Recent Rise

Nepinsights: The price of gold today in Nepal’s domestic market has seen a significant jump, moving closer to the historic milestone of Rs 300,000 per tola. According to the latest update from the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, the price of gold rised rapidly on Wednesday, continuing a trend of high volatility and rapid increases.

On Wednesday, the price of fine gold increased by Rs 7,400 per tola in a single day. This surge brought the trading price to Rs 297,600 per tola, up from Rs 290,200 on Tuesday. This recent hike follows a series of fluctuations where the market has seen both record highs and sudden corrections over the past month.

Market Trends and Fluctuations

Recently, Nepal's gold market has experienced extreme volatility. The price had already gone up by Rs 6,700 per tola on Tuesday, just one day earlier. Historical data shows that gold prices previously reached a peak of Rs 302,300 per tola on Chaitra 3. Following that peak, the market saw a cooling period where prices dropped to as low as Rs 273,900 per tola by Chaitra 10. But since then, the metal has become stronger and is gradually making its way back to the Rs 300,000 mark.

Silver Prices Also Rised Today

It is not just gold that is getting more expensive. Silver prices today have also seen an upward movement. The Federation reported that silver increased by Rs 100 per tola on Wednesday. It is now being traded at Rs 4,045 per tola, compared to the previous day’s price of Rs 3,945.

Impact on Consumers and Investors

For both Nepali investors and consumers, the ongoing increase in gold prices has become a hot topic of conversation. In Nepal, gold is not only a luxury good but also a customary way to save money and a necessary component of cultural rituals, particularly marriage ceremonies. Many middle-class families are finding it more and more challenging to buy jewelry for forthcoming social gatherings as prices approach Rs 300,000.
