Aston Villa Cruise Past Fenerbahce 6-0 to Record Biggest European Victory

Aston Villa delivered a dominant performance to defeat Fenerbahce 6-0 in the UEFA Champions League. Nicolas Jackson and Ross Barkley each scored twice, while Johan Manzambi marked his Champions League debut with a goal in Villa's biggest-ever European victory.

Aston Villa produced a sensational performance at Villa Park, defeating Fenerbahce 6-0 in the UEFA Champions League to register the biggest European win in the club's history. The convincing victory also marked Villa's first home win of the 2026-27 season across all competitions.

Unai Emery's side dominated from the opening whistle and took the lead in the 12th minute. Debutant Johan Manzambi reacted quickest after a corner to fire home, with his effort taking a slight deflection off Milan Skriniar before beating goalkeeper Ederson.

Fenerbahce attempted to respond, but Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki made several excellent saves, denying Vedat Muriqi on multiple occasions to preserve the lead.

Villa doubled their advantage shortly after the half-hour mark when Nicolas Jackson calmly finished into the bottom corner. The striker struck again just six minutes later, producing another precise finish to give the hosts a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime.

The Premier League side continued to dominate after the break, creating several chances before earning a penalty when Manzambi was fouled inside the box. Ross Barkley confidently converted from the spot to make it 4-0.

Only four minutes later, Barkley grabbed his second goal of the evening as his strike deflected into the net, leaving Fenerbahce with little hope of mounting a comeback.

Substitute Tammy Abraham completed the rout in stoppage time, finishing neatly after impressive work from Alysson to seal an emphatic 6-0 victory for Aston Villa.

Jackson Continues Impressive Form

Nicolas Jackson once again proved his importance to Aston Villa following his summer arrival. The forward has now scored in four of his first five UEFA Champions League starts, becoming the first player to achieve that feat since Sebastien Haller in 2021.

Jackson has also contributed five goals and two assists in just five Champions League starts, while taking his tally to five goals in eight appearances across all competitions this season.

Memorable Champions League Debut for Manzambi

Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi enjoyed a dream European debut by scoring on his first Champions League appearance, which also happened to fall on his 21st birthday.

His goal placed him in exclusive company, becoming only the second player to score on both his Champions League debut and birthday, following Romulo's achievement for Spartak Moscow against Barcelona in 2012.

Villa End Home Win Drought in Style

Ross Barkley also enjoyed a memorable evening, scoring twice in a single match for the first time since 2023, although his performance ended early after being forced off with an injury late in the game.

Villa completely controlled the contest from start to finish, finishing with 20 shots and an expected goals (xG) tally of 3.07, while limiting Fenerbahce despite their 15 attempts.

The comprehensive victory strengthens Aston Villa's position in the Champions League and highlights the growing confidence within Unai Emery's squad as they continue their European campaign.
