PSG Beat Chelsea 5-2 as Kvaratskhelia Shines in Champions League Thriller
Paris — Paris Saint-Germain produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Chelsea 5-2 in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie at the Parc des Princes. PSG opened the scoring early when Bradley Barcola fired a powerful half-volley into the roof of the net after Joao Neves headed down a cross from Ousmane Dembélé.
Chelsea responded midway through the first half as Malo Gusto finished from close range after a well-timed pass from Enzo Fernández. The French champions regained control shortly after halftime when Dembélé finished a quick counterattack with a precise strike into the bottom corner.
Chelsea once again leveled the score in the second half when Pedro Neto created space on the wing and set up Fernández for a composed finish. However, the game turned dramatically in the final stages. A costly mistake by Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen allowed PSG to regain possession, with Vitinha calmly scoring to restore the lead. Substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia then stole the spotlight by scoring two late goals to seal a dominant victory for PSG.
Chelsea now face a difficult challenge in the second leg at Stamford Bridge as they attempt to overturn a three-goal deficit.
