Rastriya Swatantra Party Holds Central Committee Meeting; Balen Shah Set for Parliamentary Party Leadership

The Central Committee meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is underway at the party’s central office in Banasthali. Senior leader Balen Shah is attending the meeting, marking his first participation after skipping the previous secretariat and committee sessions.

The agenda covers several topics, including the selection of the parliamentary party leader. However, General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti clarified that amending the party bylaws is unnecessary to appoint Shah, emphasizing that the current rules allow the senior leader to assume the role in accordance with the constitution.

“The Central Committee had already decided on Poush 13 to nominate Balen Shah as the parliamentary party leader. Today’s meeting will not revisit that decision. The parliamentary party meeting, immediately following the Central Committee session, will formally confirm Shah as the leader,” Burlakoti told reporters.

Balen Shah, who was announced as the RSP’s Prime Ministerial candidate for the Falgun 21 elections, is expected to take charge of the parliamentary party leadership without further hurdles.
