NEPSE to Operate Monday – Friday After Government Introduces Two-Day Weekend

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) will now remain open from Monday to Friday following the government’s decision to implement a two-day weekend.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has announced a major change in its trading schedule following the government’s recent decision to implement a two-day public holiday on Saturdays and Sundays.

According to the new arrangement, the stock market will now operate from Monday to Friday, replacing the previous schedule of Sunday to Thursday trading.

The decision was made during a NEPSE Board of Directors meeting held on Sunday evening. With Sunday now declared a public holiday, the stock exchange will remain closed on that day and instead open for trading on Fridays.

Despite the change in trading days, trading hours will remain unchanged, continuing from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Officials stated that this adjustment aligns the stock market with the government’s updated weekend policy and ensures consistency across financial institutions and business operations in Nepal.

The new schedule will come into effect from this week, marking a significant shift in the country’s financial market operations. This move is expected to improve coordination with global markets and provide a more standardized workweek structure for investors, traders, and financial institutions.
