Delhi Capitals Secure Second Consecutive IPL 2026 Victory Against Mumbai Indians
In a high-stakes clash of the Indian Premier League 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) continued their winning streak with a convincing six-wicket victory over five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.
After winning the toss, Delhi opted to bowl first and restricted Mumbai Indians to 162 runs in 20 overs. Acting captain Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for MI with 51, while Rohit Sharma contributed 35. Naman Dhir added 28, and Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 18. For DC, Mukesh Kumar picked up 2 crucial wickets, supported by Axar Patel, Lungi Ngidi, Vipraj Nigam, and T. Natarajan, who claimed 1 wicket each.
Chasing 163, Delhi Capitals displayed aggressive intent. Young sensation Sameer Rizvi was the star, smashing 90 off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 7 sixes, marking his second consecutive half-century of the season. Pathum Nissanka added 44 runs, while David Miller remained unbeaten on 21. Delhi completed the chase in 18.1 overs, losing 4 wickets.
Mumbai Indians’ bowlers struggled under pressure. Deepak Chahar, Corbin Bosch, and Mitchell Santner picked 1 wicket each, but could not stop the DC momentum. Nitish Rana was run out by Jasprit Bumrah in a tight moment. Mumbai played without their regular captain Hardik Pandya due to injury, and three players Shardul Thakur, Mayank Markande, and Corbin Bosch failed to contain the DC batsmen.
Speaking after the match, Sameer Rizvi said his consistent form is the result of hard work on weaknesses and preparation against fast bowlers. He emphasized adapting to match situations, pacing his innings according to the game context, and focusing on building confidence for bigger platforms.
DC captain Axar Patel praised the team’s flexibility and bench strength, noting the importance of taking one game at a time and maintaining momentum in a long tournament like IPL.
With this win, Delhi Capitals now sit atop the points table, registering back-to-back victories to start the season, while Mumbai Indians face mounting pressure after consecutive losses.
