India claimed the men's cricket gold medal at the Asian Games after defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final at Koroogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan, on Saturday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, India posted 211 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Pakistan mounted a strong chase but finished at 192/6, allowing India to secure the gold medal.
Abhishek Sharma Powers India to 211
India's innings was built around an explosive performance from opener Abhishek Sharma.
Sharma smashed 61 runs from just 28 deliveries, hitting three fours and seven sixes. His aggressive approach provided India with a fast start and helped establish a challenging total.
Tilak Varma continued the momentum in the middle order, finishing unbeaten on 51 from 22 balls. He struck three fours and four sixes in an impressive late-innings contribution.
Shivam Dube added another 27 runs from 15 deliveries as India crossed the 200-run mark.
Minhas and Daniyal Take Two Wickets Each
Pakistan's bowlers managed to pick up six wickets but were unable to prevent India's scoring rate from accelerating.
Arafat Minhas was among Pakistan's leading performers with the ball, taking two wickets for 25 runs in three overs.
Ahmed Daniyal also claimed two wickets, although he conceded 43 runs from his three-over spell. Saim Ayub and Abrar Ahmed completed Pakistan's other two dismissals.
Hassan Nawaz Keeps Pakistan in the Contest
Pakistan required 212 runs for victory and needed a strong start to keep pace with India's demanding target.
Hassan Nawaz delivered exactly that, producing an outstanding 96 from 51 balls. His innings featured five fours and seven sixes, making him Pakistan's top scorer and keeping the chase alive for much of the innings.
Saim Ayub contributed 29 runs, while Maaz Sadaqat added 23. However, Pakistan could not find enough substantial partnerships around Nawaz.
After 20 overs, Pakistan reached 192/6, falling 19 runs short of India's total.
India's Bowling Attack Seals the Victory
India's bowlers maintained enough control during the second innings to defend their total.
Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar each claimed two wickets while completing four-over spells for 29 runs apiece.
Shivam Dube also finished with two wickets, conceding 33 runs in his three overs.
Jasprit Bumrah did not take a wicket, but he conceded 33 runs across his four overs as India successfully restricted Pakistan's scoring in the crucial stages of the chase.
India Secure Gold Medal
India's combination of aggressive batting and disciplined bowling proved decisive in the final.
Abhishek Sharma's rapid 61 and Tilak Varma's unbeaten half-century pushed India to 211/6, while Hassan Nawaz's spectacular 96 could not quite take Pakistan over the line.
