Arsenal Crowned Premier League Champions After Manchester City Slip at Bournemouth

Arsenal FC have officially secured the 2025–26 Premier League title after Manchester City dropped points against Bournemouth. The triumph marks Arsenal’s first league championship in 22 years under manager Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal FC have officially been crowned Premier League champions for the 2025–26 season, ending a historic 22-year wait for the league title after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The result at the Vitality Stadium mathematically confirmed Arsenal as champions, with Pep Guardiola’s side unable to close the gap at the top of the table with only one match remaining.

Arsenal Secure Historic Premier League Triumph

Mikel Arteta’s side entered the evening knowing that any dropped points from Manchester City would officially hand them the Premier League crown.

City’s draw against Bournemouth left them four points behind Arsenal, who currently sit at the top of the standings with 82 points. With only one league match left to play, the defending champions can no longer catch the Gunners.

Although Arsenal secured the title without playing on the night, the celebrations across north London were immediate as supporters witnessed the club finally reclaim the Premier League trophy after more than two decades.

First League Title Since the Invincibles Era

The last time Arsenal FC won the Premier League was during the legendary 2003–04 “Invincibles” campaign under former manager Arsène Wenger.

That historic Arsenal team completed the entire league season unbeaten and became one of the most iconic squads in football history.

Since then, the club experienced years of rebuilding, managerial changes, and several near misses before finally returning to the summit under Mikel Arteta.

Mikel Arteta’s Long-Term Project Finally Delivers

Arteta took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and faced significant criticism during the early years of his rebuilding project.

Despite multiple second-place finishes in recent seasons and heavy scrutiny over Arsenal’s style of play, the Spanish manager remained committed to building a disciplined and defensively strong squad capable of competing for major trophies.

This season, Arsenal faced a difficult period in April after surrendering a nine-point lead in just 11 days. However, the team responded strongly by winning four consecutive matches and maintaining pressure on Manchester City throughout the title race.

City’s recent dropped points against Everton and Bournemouth eventually opened the door for Arsenal to clinch the championship.

Arsenal’s Defensive Strength Key to Success

A major reason behind Arsenal’s title-winning campaign has been their defensive consistency.

The Gunners have conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season, allowing only 26 goals across 37 matches. Goalkeeper David Raya has played a crucial role in that success and secured the Premier League Golden Glove award.

Arsenal have also recorded a league-high 25 victories this season, proving their consistency across the campaign.

While critics often questioned Arsenal’s reliance on set-pieces and pragmatic football, the results ultimately validated Arteta’s tactical approach.

Champions League Glory Still Possible

Although Arsenal have now secured the Premier League title, their season could become even more historic in the coming weeks.

The club has already qualified for the UEFA Champions League final after defeating Atlético Madrid 2-1 on aggregate in the semifinals.

They will now face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the final on May 30 in Budapest.

Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Champions League this season and have produced impressive performances against top European clubs including Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting CP.

If Arteta’s team manages to defeat PSG in the final, they would secure the club’s first-ever Champions League title and complete one of the greatest seasons in Arsenal’s history.

A New Era Begins at Arsenal

After years of disappointment and rebuilding, Arsenal’s return to Premier League glory marks the beginning of a new era at the club.

The title victory not only rewards the patience shown by the management, players, and supporters, but also confirms Arsenal’s return as one of Europe’s elite football clubs once again.
