Voting Has Begun for the House of Representatives Elections 2026 Across Nepal
Voting for the House of Representatives Elections 2026 has officially begun across Nepal. The Election Commission of Nepal confirmed that polling started nationwide at 7:00 am today.
Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai stated, “Voting has commenced smoothly in all areas from 7:00 am, and initial reports indicate no major issues at polling stations.”
Voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots until 5:00 pm today. Eligible voters can present any of the following documents to vote: voter ID card, citizenship certificate, national identity card, driving license, passport, or land ownership certificate (Lalpurja).
At polling centers, there will be separate queues for male and female voters. Special arrangements are in place for persons with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant and postpartum women, patients, and physically weak individuals to ensure they do not face long waits.
A total of 23,112 polling centers have been set up across 10,967 polling locations nationwide. Out of these, 3,680 centers are classified as highly sensitive, 4,442 as sensitive, and 2,845 as normal. Additionally, 143 temporary polling stations have been designated.
For election security, around 215,000 personnel have been deployed, including:

These measures aim to ensure a smooth, secure, and fair voting process across the country.
