Independent Candidate Mahabir Pun Wins Myagdi Parliamentary Seat

Independent candidate Dr. Mahabir Pun has been elected as a Member of the House of Representatives from Myagdi with a strong vote margin, defeating CPN-UML’s Harikrishna Shrestha.

Beni, Falgun 23: Independent candidate Dr. Mahabir Pun has been elected as a Member of the House of Representatives from Myagdi.

According to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Pun secured 22,850 votes to win the election. His closest rival, CPN-UML candidate Harikrishna Shrestha, received 7,919 votes.

Although vote counting has been completed, the official declaration is yet to be made by the Chief Returning Officer’s Office.

Pun contested the election from his birthplace Myagdi, highlighting key issues such as policy reforms in the education sector. In his election manifesto, he also pledged to formulate policies to ensure voting rights for Nepali citizens living abroad.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress candidate Karn Bahadur Bhandari received 6,884 votes, while Nepali Communist Party candidate Arjun Thapa secured 3,529 votes.

Out of 86,397 registered voters in Myagdi, a total of 46,215 votes were cast in the election.
