Bodo/Glimt Beat Sporting CP 3-0 to Edge Closer to Champions League Quarter-Finals
Bodø — Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt continued their remarkable Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Sporting CP in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash. The home team started strongly and created several early chances before finally breaking the deadlock in the 32nd minute.
Midfielder Sondre Fet converted a penalty after being fouled inside the box, giving Bodo/Glimt the lead. The hosts doubled their advantage just before halftime when Ole Didrik Blomberg received a deflected pass and calmly finished into the bottom corner.
Sporting improved in the second half and attempted to respond, but their efforts were denied by goalkeeper Nikita Haikin and a disciplined Bodo defense. Kasper Høgh eventually sealed the victory in the 71st minute, finishing from close range after a dangerous cross from Jens Petter Hauge.
The result puts Bodo/Glimt in a strong position ahead of the second leg as they aim for a historic place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
