Kathmandu Fines Shop Owner for Littering in Durbarmarg

Kathmandu Metropolitan City fined a shop owner Rs. 25,000 after a viral video showed dust being thrown onto the street in Durbarmarg.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has taken strict action against a shop owner in Durbarmarg after a video showing littering went viral on social media.

 

According to officials, the Metropolitan Police imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 on the shop owner after footage showed dust being shaken from a shop mat directly onto the roadside. The incident occurred in Ward No. 1 of Durbarmarg, one of the busiest commercial areas in the city.

 

The shop owner, identified as Pankaj Kumar, was penalized under the city’s administrative regulations related to cleanliness and waste management. Authorities stated that such behavior goes against ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness and improve urban management in Kathmandu.

 

The metropolis has been actively enforcing stricter rules to keep public areas clean and has warned that similar actions will be taken against anyone found violating these regulations.

 

Officials also urged business owners and the general public to follow proper waste disposal practices and support the city’s campaign for a cleaner and more organized urban environment.
