Gujarat Titans Top IPL Standings After Dominating Sunrisers Hyderabad

Gujarat Titans moved to the top of the IPL 2026 standings with a commanding 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sai Sudarshan and Washington Sundar impressed with the bat, while Gujarat’s bowlers dismantled Hyderabad’s batting lineup.

Gujarat Titans climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table after securing a massive 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Tuesday’s highly anticipated Indian Premier League clash.

With this important victory, Gujarat Titans now have 16 points from 12 matches, strengthening their position in the race for the IPL playoffs and further establishing themselves as one of the tournament’s strongest contenders this season.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, the defeat proved to be a major setback. Hyderabad entered the match hoping to claim the top position in the standings with a victory, but instead suffered a heavy loss that damaged their momentum in the competition. Following the defeat, Hyderabad slipped to third place with 14 points, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved into second position on the basis of a superior net run rate despite having the same number of points.

After winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad elected to field first, hoping to restrict Gujarat to a manageable total. However, Gujarat’s batting lineup delivered a composed and disciplined performance to post 168 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Opening batter Sai Sudharsan played a crucial innings for Gujarat Titans, scoring an impressive 61 runs and anchoring the batting effort. His innings provided stability and momentum at key moments of the match. Supporting him brilliantly was Washington Sundar, who delivered a valuable half-century by scoring 50 runs and helping Gujarat build a competitive total.

Although Gujarat’s score appeared achievable on a balanced pitch, Hyderabad’s batting lineup completely collapsed under pressure during the chase.

Chasing a target of 169 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled from the beginning against Gujarat’s disciplined bowling attack. Wickets fell regularly, and the batting order failed to build partnerships or gain momentum at any stage of the innings.

Hyderabad were eventually bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs, suffering one of their heaviest defeats of the IPL 2026 season.

Captain Pat Cummins was the top scorer for Hyderabad with only 19 runs, highlighting the team’s disappointing batting display.

The Gujarat bowling unit completely dominated the match, with Jason Holder and Kagiso Rabada leading the attack brilliantly. Both bowlers claimed three wickets each and consistently troubled Hyderabad’s batters with pace, accuracy, and disciplined line and length bowling.

Gujarat’s all-round performance once again demonstrated the team’s strong balance in both batting and bowling. Their consistent performances throughout the tournament have now placed them firmly among the favorites for the IPL 2026 title.

For Hyderabad, the defeat serves as a serious warning as the playoff race intensifies. Despite remaining in the top four, the team will need to quickly recover and improve both batting consistency and middle-order stability in upcoming matches.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans appear to have almost secured their playoff qualification and will now focus on maintaining momentum as the tournament enters its final and most competitive phase.
