Petrol Prices Rise by Rs 15, Diesel by Rs 10 in Nepal Amid Global Tensions
Nepal Oil Corporation has announced an increase in fuel prices, with petrol going up by Rs 15 and diesel/motor oil by Rs 10. The new rates will come into effect from midnight today, the corporation confirmed.
Under the revised pricing, petrol in third-class cities, including Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal, is now set at Rs 172 per liter, while diesel and motor oil have reached Rs 152 per liter.
In second-class cities such as Dang and Surkhet, petrol prices have been adjusted to Rs 171 per liter, and diesel/motor oil now costs Rs 151 per liter.
Meanwhile, in first-class cities including Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj, petrol is priced at Rs 169.50 per liter, and diesel/motor oil at Rs 149.50 per liter.
The Nepal Oil Corporation cited escalating international tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran as the key reason behind the price hike. In a statement, the corporation said, “Amid these challenging circumstances, Nepal Oil Corporation has been compelled to raise petroleum product prices beyond expected levels. We remain aware of and sensitive to the impact this may have on general consumers and stakeholders.”
The price revision reflects global market fluctuations and ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting fuel costs worldwide, which have directly influenced domestic petroleum pricing in Nepal.
