Global IME Bank Announces NPR 5 Crore Support for Disaster Relief Fund

Global IME Bank has pledged NPR 5 crore to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to support search and rescue, emergency relief, medical assistance and rehabilitation following the devastating Bhote Koshi flood.

Global IME Bank Limited has announced a financial contribution of NPR 5 crore to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund to support ongoing search and rescue, emergency relief and rehabilitation efforts following the devastating Bhote Koshi River flash flood.

The bank said the assistance is aimed at helping citizens and communities severely affected by the disaster, particularly those who have lost family members, homes and essential infrastructure.

Financial Assistance to Support Flood Response

The severe flooding along the Bhote Koshi River has caused widespread destruction in several districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan.

The powerful river current and subsequent erosion and inundation have resulted in loss of lives, missing persons and the displacement of numerous families. Homes and settlements have been damaged, while important infrastructure such as bridges, roads and hydropower projects has also suffered major destruction.

Global IME Bank said its NPR 5 crore contribution will help support efforts to locate missing people, provide medical care to those injured and arrange essential food and temporary shelter for displaced families.

Bank Expresses Condolences to Flood Victims

The bank expressed its deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the floods and landslides and extended sympathy to their families.

According to the bank, the contribution has been made under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with the objective of supporting communities during the current national crisis.

The assistance is also intended to contribute to longer-term recovery and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and communities.

Global IME Bank's Disaster Response

Global IME Bank said supporting communities during emergencies has remained an important part of its social responsibility.

The bank has previously provided financial, material and humanitarian support during various disasters across Nepal, including floods, landslides, inundation, earthquakes and epidemics.

The latest contribution comes as government agencies, security forces, private organizations and other stakeholders continue working to respond to the widespread impact of the Bhote Koshi flood.

Global IME Bank's Banking Network

Global IME Bank has established a broad presence across Nepal and has become one of the country's major commercial banks.

  • 69 extension and revenue collection counters
  • 3 foreign representative offices

The bank has also expanded its services to Nepali customers and communities connected to overseas employment and remittance markets.

Remittance Services Support Nepal's Economy

It connects Nepal with remittance markets in countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and India.

Through these services, the bank contributes to the formal flow of remittances into Nepal and supports the broader national economy.

Support Comes Amid Major Flood Disaster

The NPR 5 crore contribution from Global IME Bank comes at a critical time as authorities continue dealing with the consequences of the Bhote Koshi flood.

With many families displaced and infrastructure severely damaged, immediate relief as well as long-term reconstruction will require coordinated support from the government, private sector, financial institutions and wider society.

The bank's contribution to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund is expected to support ongoing efforts to provide assistance to those affected by the disaster.
