Nepal Oil Corporation Raises Fuel Prices Amid Ongoing West Asia Conflict
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced another increase in fuel prices, citing the ongoing conflict in West Asia as the main reason for the surge in global petroleum costs. Petrol, diesel, and kerosene prices have all been raised by NPR 15, effective immediately, according to the NOC statement released on Wednesday.
The corporation explained that rising tensions and conflict in West Asia have led to continuous increases in international fuel prices over the past month. NOC warned that if the current trend continues, it may face losses of NPR 5 billion over the next 15 days (March 16–31) and an additional projected loss of NPR 15 billion in the subsequent 15 days.
Fuel rates will vary depending on the region. In Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhganj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj, petrol will now cost NPR 184.50 per liter. In Surkhet and Dang, it will be NPR 186 per liter, while in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal, the price will rise to NPR 187 per liter.
NOC has appealed to consumers to use petroleum products wisely during this period of high prices. The corporation also assured the public that fuel rates will be lowered as soon as international market prices stabilize.
This latest hike follows a series of previous price increases over the past few weeks, reflecting the ongoing challenges posed by volatile global fuel markets and the uncertainty caused by geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
