RSP Claims Victory in Kathmandu-1; Ranju Darshana Wins with 15,455 Votes

RSP candidate Ranju Darshana wins Kathmandu-1 with 15,455 votes, defeating closest rival Nepali Congress’s Prabal Thapa by a large margin. Full results of all candidates included.

In a decisive turn of events in the recently concluded Nepal House of Representatives elections 2082, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has officially opened its victory account in Kathmandu-1. RSP candidate Ranju Nyaupane (Darshana) emerged as the clear winner, securing a commanding 15,455 votes and defeating her nearest rival by a significant margin. This marks a historic win for RSP in the constituency, reflecting the growing support and influence of the party among voters in Kathmandu-1.

The closest competitor, Prabal Thapa of the Nepali Congress, received 6,364 votes, trailing far behind Ranju  Darshana. Previous elections had seen RSP’s Ravindra Mishra narrowly lose to opponents, but this time he could secure only 3,972 votes, indicating a shift in voter preference towards RSP. Other candidates in the fray included Mohanraj Regmi of CPN-UML, who received 1,618 votes; Menuka Bhandari of the Nepali Communist Party, with 345 votes; and Samir Lama Tamang of the Labour Culture Party, who secured 426 votes.

The Kathmandu-1 constituency has long been a politically competitive region, with parties vying for dominance through close contests. Ranju Darshana’s victory demonstrates the rising popularity of RSP and the electorate’s desire for fresh leadership and a new political direction. Analysts suggest that this result may influence political strategies across Kathmandu and even at the national level, as RSP continues to consolidate its presence.

This landmark result not only strengthens RSP’s position but also signals a shift in the local political landscape, highlighting voter confidence in Ranju Darshana’s leadership. With 15,455 votes, RSP’s win in Kathmandu-1 is being celebrated as a significant achievement, setting the stage for the party to expand its influence in future elections across Nepal.
