CAN Approves Financial Report of NPL Season 2, Records Over Rs 92 Million Surplus
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially approved the income and expenditure report for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), revealing strong financial performance from the tournament.
According to the approved report, the tournament generated a total revenue of over Rs 473.6 million, highlighting the growing commercial success of franchise cricket in Nepal.
Out of the total earnings, approximately Rs 219.6 million was spent on organizing and managing the competition. After deducting expenses, CAN recorded a gross income of around Rs 254 million.
As per the league’s financial structure, 50 percent of the income was distributed among the eight participating franchise teams. This distribution amounted to over Rs 161.8 million, ensuring financial benefits for all teams involved.
After completing all allocations, CAN retained a surplus of more than Rs 92.12 million, marking a significant profit from the second edition of the league.
The financial outcome reflects the increasing popularity and commercial viability of the Nepal Premier League. With rising audience engagement, sponsorship deals, and franchise participation, the tournament is emerging as a key platform for the development of cricket in Nepal.
Officials believe that such financial success will further strengthen domestic cricket infrastructure and encourage future investments in the sport.
The approval of the financial report also ensures transparency and accountability in the management of the league, setting a positive example for sports governance in the country.
