Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reportedly killed in an Israeli Air Force airstrike on Saturday. The attack targeted a building in Tehran’s northeastern Narmak district, where Ahmadinejad, along with several close advisers and bodyguards, was present. Some of the bodyguards are reported to have been members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Social media videos have shown the destruction caused by the strikes. Reports also indicate that two school pupils were killed during the attack.

In response, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed to strike back, targeting U.S. and Israeli military bases in the region, calling Ahmadinejad’s death the result of “years of sacrifice.” Iran has reportedly carried out attacks on U.S. bases in Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, and has also struck locations in the United Arab Emirates, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai, resulting in casualties.

Gulf nations have condemned Iran’s attacks and urged restraint, stating they are not enemies of Tehran. Iran claims it is only targeting U.S. interests while seeking peace. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran against further escalation, with Netanyahu declaring that Israel would continue to hold Iran accountable for destabilizing the region.
