Government to Offer Free Online AI Training to 2,000 Youths

The government is set to provide free online AI and prompt engineering training to 2,000 young people across Nepal. The program will cover ChatGPT, Claude, effective prompting, AI-generated content and responsible AI use.

The government is set to provide free online training on artificial intelligence (AI) and prompt engineering to 2,000 young people across Nepal.

The training will be organized by the National Academy of Vocational Training under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, in collaboration with ING Group and Gyan Bazar Online Pvt. Ltd.

Titled “AI with Effective Prompt Engineering,” the program will focus on the practical use of popular AI tools, including ChatGPT and Claude.

Participants will learn how to write clear and effective prompts and use AI tools to draft emails, notes and meeting minutes, as well as create presentations. The training will also cover AI-generated images and short videos, responsible AI use, and ways to verify information generated by AI tools.

Training Schedule

The free online AI training is scheduled for November 4 and 5 and will be conducted in four separate sessions over the two days.

Each day will have two sessions:

Morning Session: 10 AM to 12 PM
Evening Session: 6 PM to 8 PM

Each participant will be assigned to one of the available sessions. According to the Academy, 500 participants will attend each session, bringing the total number of trainees to 2,000.

The Ministry of Labour said that conducting live training through an online platform is a new initiative for the institution. The program aims to help young people use AI effectively in their studies, employment and professional activities.

Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramjee Yadav said that AI-related knowledge and skills should be accessible to young people across the country rather than being limited to only a select few.

He added that the introductory training is designed to help young people explore opportunities created by technological advancements. The minister also announced plans to introduce more advanced AI training programs in the future through both online and in-person sessions.
