Man Held in Pokhara for Alleged Misconduct Toward Newly Elected MP Mahabir Pun

Police in Kaski have arrested a man accused of behaving inappropriately toward newly elected Member of Parliament Mahabir Pun. The incident occurred during a public book-selling event in Pokhara and later gained attention on social media.

A man has been taken into police custody for allegedly misbehaving with newly elected Member of Parliament Mahabir Pun in Pokhara. Authorities confirmed that the arrest was made on Thursday following complaints related to the incident.

The individual has been identified as 43-year-old Bikash Gurung, a resident of Ward No. 13 in Banzhapatan, Pokhara Metropolitan City. According to Police Deputy Superintendent Hari Bahadur Basnet, a team from the District Police Office in Kaski detained Gurung from Mahendrapul in Ward No. 9. Police have stated that the case is currently under investigation.

Preliminary police records indicate that Gurung has previously been convicted in drug-related offenses on three separate occasions. Authorities are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the latest incident as part of their ongoing inquiry.

The case came to light after a video circulated on social media showing Gurung allegedly using abusive language and behaving inappropriately while Mahabir Pun and his team were selling copies of the book “Mahabir Pun: Memory, Dream, and Continuous Journey” at Prithvi Chowk in Pokhara. Following the spread of the footage online, police initiated an investigation that led to his arrest.
